The first layout in my newest altered book. I've decided to take some time off from swaps and focus on my crafting, use up my supplies, and make things to sell. I'm making this book for myself. I've used some of my favorite painting techniques and had fun with it. I've learned that not gluing everything down right away makes my designs look much better, lol. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to leave the white and black page blank for journaling or do some collage art on it.

Chunky Houses

I haven't had much time to craft, but over the last month I was working on these Chunky Houses. They are not so chunky though. I was so excited to use the bingo cards as backgrounds, they are one of my favorite items to use now! I painted each background and use coordination papers and vintage illustrations.

AND I made this Dragon atc for my boyfriend! <3

Wow, it's been 56 days since I last posted! I guess I've been busy. I have a few projects to post, but mostly i haven't had much inspiration or time to do anything. Bleh! Being uninspired sucks.

Okay I made this ATC sized canvas painting and collage for a fellow craftster. We were in the jar of whimsies swap together. It's just something I quickly made while I packed up the box, but seriously I love this, it was kind of hard to get rid of. Just acrylic paint and some paper collage.

I made these as a birthday present for a July Craftster Baby! They are based of of these absolutely amazing NOMs I'm not so talented but I did my best and turned it a bit into my style! I used paper clay, for the first time, it was awesome. And Acrylic paint goes on really well, I was suprised! They are pretty tiny!

I made this for the 44cent swap! Just a fun collage onto a vintage bingo card! I loves bingo cards!

I have a few other paper crafts to show, but I'm going to wait for them to be recieved before I post!

Oh and Kira! I'll get a postcard and some crafty stuff out to as soon as I can!

New ATCs

I've been having fun with the new Graphic 45 paper with these lovely Bathing Beauties! I also found an awesome number stamp set!! I thought it would be fun to combine them for a set of ATCs. Here are the first two I've made!

I painted the background on this ATC with acrylics on watercolor paper. I used bubble wrap to make the black polka dots. I love that technique! I tried something different by painting on the triangles, I think I'll do it again soon!

I love the green polka dot paper on this one, it's become my all time favorite scrapbook paper I've seen. It is from October Afternoon's Fly a Kite paper line. It's called Fireflies! Actually I'm pretty sure all the paper used on this ATC, besides the bathing beauty, is from the two newest lines from October Afternoon.

Fabulous Chair for my Craft Room

I've been wanting to re-cover a chair for a long time, and the other day I found a set of old dinning table chairs for cheap at the thrift store! It was super easy to recover the seats, and I have now fell in love with spray paint!!! I wanted them to be funky and eclectic, and not all matchy matchy! I LOVE THEM!!

Gothic Whimsy Bird House

Yay I can FINALLY post this project!!! :D

I made this bird house for the amazingly talented Alexz! She's getting married and this is my wedding present for her! It's based on her wedding colors/theme and her relationship with her husband-to-be!!!!

This was so much fun to make. It took 8 continuous hours to create! The house was a wood sugar container. I took the top out and cut out a hole. There is tons of paper, glue, and paint on this baby! I'm sooooooo proud of it, and i really think it's the best thing I have EVER made!!!

I also made her four matching atcs for her bridesmaids!

Slytherin Chest

I've finally made my self the slytherin chest I've been wanting!!!

After a lot of color changes and metal cutting and hammering (which gave me the worst cramp in my hand) I finally finished it today!! All the silver stuff is real metal sheeting and I aged it with black paint! My camera died before I could get good, focused pictures so you'll just have to do with these!!

And the before picture while I was in the middle of a staining it dark brown, that didn't last long since it is now layed over with brown, black and then finally green paint!

Sweet Blue Altered House

Oooo! I love how this turned out sooo much!! I found this adorable little wood house (2.5 x 3.25 x 4 in) at the used store. It had a little wood chimney that I sawed off because it was difficult to work around. I decopaged it with some really pretty black and purple mulberry paper (I'm soo in love with this paper!!!) And then I just started glueing things to it. The little girl in the blue cloak was the first piece I added, that's why the color theme is mosly blue. I didn't have any theme in mind, I just wanted to do an eclectic collection, but I think all together there is a theme (I'm not sure what though?! :D ) I did a few inchies on it, and I had forgotten how much I love making inchies!! It was soo much fun to make and I really love how it turned out (which is rare for me!)

I got this amazing job at a unique little scrapbook shop. I had to work until Midnight on Saturday because were were having sort of a party, where a whole bunch of people come a scrapbook until midnight. Well I had to work the shop the first few hours then when I shop closed I got to go back and craft with the ladies! So really I got paid to make this! Since it was my first time doing the late night shift I only made one thing, but I'm so excited to do another late night! It's going to be great.
The circle is a punch I have, it's three inches.

Lovekinds

When I was thinking of ideas for my matchbox I started thinking about the different kinds of love there are. I did a search online, but I didn’t really like the different kinds of love I found on there. So I made up my own and named the group ‘Lovekinds’.

There are Four Lovekinds:
Egolove - Love for Yourself
Bloodlove - Love for Family
Kindredlove - Love for Friends
Eternallove - Love for Significant Others

I used two matchboxes. The outer one is very simple. It reminds me of an old hard cover book. It’s sturdy and doesn’t give away much details.

When you open it up there is another, smaller matchbox inside. When you take out the smaller matchbox you can see an anatomical heart in the background.

The Inner Box is small but it holds much love. On the front displayed is the key to the heart.

Inside the inner box are four small cards.

On the fronts of each card is an illustration of each Lovekind

On the backs of each card tells the Lovekind.

Oh and whats this? A ribbon coming for the bottom of the box? Let’s pull on it and see what it does.

The supprise is that the Inner Box has a false bottom.

Apperently this box belonged to a woman in love with a man named Jack. She kept momentos of the times they spent together.

The ticket to the carnival he took her on their first date, the music they danced to on their second, the ribbon from her hair the day he asked her to marry him, a piece of lace from her wedding dress, and a button from his sleeve cuff on the night of their honeymoon.

Lovekinds.

Altered Art Inspired Apron and Matching Nametag

Yesterday I started working at a beautiful scrapbook store. It's mroe than just an average scrapbook place, it has vintage items, and altered things, and handmade goods. There are bunting banners hanging all over the place and a huge display of vintage lace! The people are fabulous too! In just the two days I've worked there I've met so many different crafty people, It's amazing!

So to celebrate my new job I decided that I would make an apron to wear to work. I don't have to wear an apron at work, but I was soo born to wear an apron, so I had to make one! And then when I was working today I saw a nametag that someone had scrapbooked, and it was sooo cool!

Saying Goodbye to ATCs

Not forever, but I'm taking a break from atc making. I'll be focusing instead on other crafts I do, school and work! These are the last two atcs I made for the December round of the ATC swap.

Blanket For My Neice

I hand quilted this baby, but the rest was done with my sewing machine, thank goodness! I saw the large green dot on pink fabric and I knew it had to be for her. I used almost my whole first paycheck buying the fabric! I hope she likes it!!

This is the only thing I've made for christmas that i have pictures for. I'll be sure to get some tommorrow!!

Crochet Amigurumi Dolly!

I've been wanting to crochet the pefect doll for myself, and I'm pretty sure I managed it! Her legs torso and head are all one piece, and her arms are sewn on with buttons to make them sort of jointed! She has pretty blue safty eyes and either black or navy blue hair, I can't really tell. I used cream colored lily yarn with a 3.5 mm hook, and carron simply soft for the hair! She's pretty top heavy with all that hair, but I plan on fixing that soon!! Thanks to Kira for the help. This is my first time doing amigurumi and pretty much my first time for single crochet too. But I think she turned out pretty amazing for my first time! I plan on making her costumes to wear, like star trek ones, and all different types of outfits! I haven't decided on a name yet.

Yay! I was really excited about making this atc! I did it for the ongoing atc swap on Craftster! The themed for the atc was: An ATC Themed ATC!! Venus in Retrograde

I was struck by inspiration last night and this is what it 'Birthed'!

The painting 'THe Birth of Venus' by Sandro Boticelli is my favorite piece of art ever! I love to make and get art that is an altered version of the Painting!

The blue and green swirls behind her are the ocean waves and sea foam. The pink circles are pearls. There are brown/black feathers to represent the wind of life being blown into Venus, and the pink flower represent the pink flowers in the painting. I tried to make it really 3D by using layers of paper and that thick double sided tape.

So The Goddess Venus was my starting point, and everything flew out from my brain and down into my fingers! This is a piece of art that will be well admired in my house! I choose the title ‘Venus in Retrograde’ because of what retrograde motion is. Retrograde is the apparent movement of a planet to go backward in it’s rotation, the planet doesn’t really go backward, it just looks like it does. I know that sometimes I feel off in my orbit, like I’m not going the right direction. So I felt like ‘Venus in Retrograde’ sort of describes how I feel, and I know how other people feel.

Everything on this Decoration is scrapbook paper except the Goddess Venus, which is watercolor, and the planet Venus, which I got out of an astronomy book!

Here are some ATCs that I've made recently. An ATC is an Artist Trading Card. It is 2.5in x 3.5in. They are usualyl made out of paper, but many people make then with clay, crochet, crosstitch, paint, etc! You are supposed to trade them with other people, but you can keep then too! I usually trade, but I have kept a few.

Rainbow Altered Puzzle

This is probably the most popular items I've made!

This used to be a fifty cent puzzle that I got in Joanns Clearance. Since it had sixs columns I decided to make it a rainbow, minus indigo. I painted each column with accrylics and started altering!!

I altered each color in groups. I used papers in the same colors to decorate the pieces!

It was actually featured on Craftster blog Rock Paper Scissors!

My first post! Yay!!

I've been thinking about making a craft blog for a while now, at least a year, or more.

I'm going to share with you guys things that I have made for myself, my friends and family, and things that I have sent and recieved from people that I only know my usernames. Well I actually know their names, but anyway! :)
